Auro Tour (Auroville)

Auroville, also known as the “City of Dawn”, is a small town that was a vision of Sri Aurobindo’s successor “The Mother”. It was completed in 1968 in a rural landscape as utopian city where human kind have lived in peace in harmony irrespective of differences. It is located 8 Km northwest of Pondicherry with around 1900 people living in communes.

Two thirds of the residents are non-natives. The buildings are a combination of modern western and traditional Indian.

The Aurovill Visitors’ Centre has an information service from where you can obtain books, leaflets and brochures about Auroville. The exhibition at the Auroville Visitors’ Centre educates visitors on the history and the philosophy behind the establishment of Auroville. This centre is located near Bharat Nivas and is open from 09.30 am -05.30 pm.

Pondicherry Sightseeing

A large number of interesting tourist attractions of pre-colonial and colonial heritage can be located and around the Pondicherry town. It is home to several famous Indian spiritual centers such as the Sri Aurobindo Ahsram, Auroville, Matri Mandir, and Manakula Vinayagar Kovil. Pondicherry also has some churches mostly built by the French; Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Church of the Capuchins, Notre Dame des Anges Church, Church of Our Lady of Lourdes and Church of Our Lady of Good Health. Meeran, Jami, Kuthbha and Mulla Mohhoamed are the popular mosques in Pondicherry.

These religious places symbolize Pondicherry’s religious and ethnic diversity.
The Museums and the Arikamedu archeological site share fascinating historical information about Pondicherry with their visitors. Other tourist attractions include the Children’s Park and Duplex Stature, Gandhi Statue, Botanical Gardens, Bharathi Park and Raj Nivas

Chunnambar Boat House

The Chunnambar Boat House is located just 8 km from the city of Pondicherry, along the Cuddalore Main Road. This particular boat house is a great place of tourist attraction. Whenever you visit Pondicherry, Chunnambar is an excellent place for relaxation. The water is clear and it is also ideal place for sun bathing and beach sports.
